Maddie's all ready for Independence Day...

...and so are we!
8.5 hours to go... and counting.
Last night's traditional Fifth Street Militia Independence Day Fireworks Extravaganza went off without a hitch. Unless you count the knuckleheads that ran up, dropped, and lit a Black Cat WarpSpeed mortar on our corner (then ran away). Kaboom! It was quite impressive, but as a woman driving past in a massive SUV felt inclined to comment, "totally illegal."
But we had a great time. JQ and Kev (
enigmaticae and
orobouros) came up from Berkeley, and were happy to handle most of the lighting duties. Jan, Randy, and Janine danced in the street. Leslie G. sipped wine. Jennifer watched from the sidelines. Maddie hid under a blanket.

The annual Fifth Street Militia fireworks extravaganza was, as always, a blast. And I took lots of pictures. But it's late, and I'm tired, so I'll post 'em in the morning.
