Yeah, it's time once again to round up all my recent (and less than recent) posts to
los_faces. Here you go...

"B-b-b-but I'm too cute to eat," said Sammy the Sandwich, shortly before he realized exactly how harsh and uncaring the world is.
( More of the faces that abound around us appear behind the cut... )

I post pictures to Los_Faces, a Russian LiveJournal community dedcated to "faces around us", on a semi-regular basis. Since Los_Faces is a moderated community, it typically takes a day or so before a picture is approved or rejected (the suspense is exquisite). And, since just about everybody involved in the community is Russian, and I don't read Russian (don't fool yourself, Babelfish causes more confusion than clarity), I rarely have a clue what gets said in the comments of pictures I post. Still, it's a fun place to visit.
For the last week, I've been posting a new image every day, generally as soon as the previous gets approved. What follows is the full collection, seven approvals and one rejection. Enjoy.

Puppy. Approved June 22, 2008.
Comment translation: "This Rex! Such of [multik] was in 80[tykh]!"

Cucumber Choir. Approved June 23, 2008.
Comment Translation: "of [inoplanetyashki] are such", "it is interesting that they sing for the song", "oh, and I attempted of entire still life to create one [feys] it is obtained, but only into the profile."

Early one morning last week, I was working from home, drinking my coffee while cleaning up and correcting the Harry Turtledove book Night Shade is putting out in June. Suddenly, there came a knock at the door.
Now it wasn't a big knock, only a slight scratching. And it wasn't the front door, either. It was the back door. So I went to check.
I looked out the window. Nothing. I opened the door. Still nothing. I looked down...

I'm home from WHC 2008, despite entanglements with hordes of infected, diabolical government agents, armored anacro-luddite separatists, and Scottish punk rock hotrod cannibals (or was that just the Neil Marshall flick we caught on Monday?). I met some great people, picked up a few books (reviews coming), and took a bunch of pictures. But first... the quote of the weekend:
"Are you musicians?"
"No ma'am. We're publishers."

Inspiration strikes Jeremy Lassen while visiting the hotel bar.

The Night Shade Books table in the dealers' room.

Stack 'o Wastelands.
( More stuff behind the cut... )
